SpokenBot - Improving English Language Skills for HSUHK Students
SpokenBot is an Android app developed by The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong to help students improve their English language skills. The app provides an all-in-one platform with different speaking topics, correcting pronunciation mistakes, and giving feedback to learners to improve their English language step-by-step for organizing sentences in a paragraph.
The app features vocabulary and terminology in different topics, providing a paragraph-by-paragraph read-along exercise in different scenarios, and a virtual question and answer section for learners to apply what they have learned in different exercises. SpokenBot also provides the latest global and local news headlines from reputable sources such as RTHK, SCMP, and CNN News, boosting one's understanding of what's happening around. Furthermore, the app motivates learners to unlock badges by completing more exercises regularly.
HSUHK students can enjoy the full version of SpokenBot by logging in with their HSUHK email. Non-HSUHK users have access to a lite version of the app, which limits the number of topics, exercises, and news sources. The app also provides an integrated training program for learners to complete different exercises in a standard timeframe. Upon the completion of each exercise, learners receive a report with highlights and feedback on unrecognized words, helping them improve their English language skills.
